Led by guitarist and composer Jason Newsom, Anomalous Quintet is based in Portland, Oregon and has completed three albums, Quintessence, Life on an Oblate Spheroid, and Simple Forms. Jazzreview.com has said that Anomalous Quintet "Pushes the envelope of jazz to the hilt" and has described their songs as “fresh and innovative,” and Jazznow.com called their music “luxuriant.”
